We needed a quick and easy reference site showing the eBay category tree’s many branches and leaves to help build our affiliate marketing sites. Necessity is the mother of invention, so isoldwhat.com was born! The picture at right (click to enlarge) shows a sample screen shot of the eBay category tree. Clicking on any category branch will open that branch and each leaf category is an affiliate link to that category on eBay.
The category tree can be searched by category number or by category name or just browsed by clicking through the different branches. I use the category name search feature to answer the question, “OK, where else are these items listed on eBay?” This does not always work. The other day I found that if you search for Multi Tools, you will find leaf category number 75236, but if you search for Multi-Tools with a hyphen, you will find category number 66824. Many of the multi-tools are actually listed in leaf category number 48818, shown in the picture at right.
isoldwhat.com also has other useful tools for affiliate marketers. There is an index of Amazon browse nodes, a table of eBay root category listing counts, and ePN Report Tracker and ePN Campaign Report tools that allow in depth analysis of sales for affiliates in the eBay Partner Network. phpBay Pro users wanting specific information about items browsed and sold can purchase the Quality Click Tracking script to track all outgoing phpBay clicks to eBay.
